This weekend I went home.
I saw my little niece...
I went for a walk by the sea where I found this handsome fella...
And I watched some TV...
Oh! I went to the dentist as well but I didn't take any picture there.

Just by my doorstep

Nice sunny afternoon.
I went to the park just across the road with some monkey-nuts to feed the squirrels. Ok, go ahead! Tell me I shouldn't because they are killing the red squirrels blblabla.
I didn't want to stuff them with food for the whole year, I just wanted to take a few pics.
Funny enough, the crows love peanuts just as well!
By the fountain I saw tadpoles for the first time. At first I thought they were some sort of little lizards :D until a 4-year old kid asked her mom to see the baby frogs :D

My iPod is immortal

I have such love and affection for my iPod that if someone ever takes it away from me I don't know what I'll do.
It happens a lot that I'm running for the bus or train and the damn thing jumps out of my pocket into the ground where it slides like a hockey disc for several meters.
It's all scratched and bruised but it still works perfectly.
Last wednesday, I was getting out of the train in Paddington to meet Fary in Kings+. It was raining a lot and if you know Paddington station, you will know that when it's raining outside, there are waterfalls inside.
So I ran out of the train to avoid taking a shower :D and the ipod slipped out of my pocket into a HUGE puddle of water.
It was completely submerse and stayed a while in there because people wanted to pass and I just couldn't grab it. It kept falling again to the water!!!
It was just like a (ipod's) bad dream! Oh no! let me out of here!!! I'm drowning, I'm drowning!!!! AAAHHHHH!!!
So I finally managed to rescue it. Unbelievably the thing still works. And now it looks even better because it had a bath! It's shiny!!

Changes - new banner and BUY THE BOOK!!!
2 new things here:
1. new banner
2. new book
I was a bit tired of the old banner it had to much tungsten.
It was also a pic taken in a bus at night. I like the photo but changes are needed from time to time.
This new banner has a pic taken in a open-air tube station during the day. Mile End to be more specific.

The other new thing here is a Blurb badge thank links to my book The Tragic Story of the Dead Insects. You can buy it if you want. It's available in paper back and hard cover.
Check the badge on the right side of the blog for more details!

Oh Wisdom...
... tooth!
I really didn't need this.
Half of my face is in moderate pain because of my one and only wisdom tooth that decided to wake up now.
And I say moderate because I've taken a lot of pills today.
Oh boy...
now in my mother-tongue:
Raios partam a porcaria do dente do ciso que resolveu dar-me cabo do esquema!
AARRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

who would guess?
My landlord obviously shops at Argos, just like me!
Where the cheap and quality-less things are, he goes!
There was a floor lamp in my bedroom, which I took to the living room. Yesterday when I was taking it back to the bedroom, the thing left the base behind and I had to fix it.
While the lamp was lying on the floor I noticed that the glass on the top was a bit "dirty"...
The lamp is taller than me, yeah had seen before that it didn't look clean as crystal BUT, I thought is was just dust. I mean, the thing has been here for ages...
Look what I found inside the glass shade.

Back to see Mike Figgis again!
I met with Zé again at the gallery to take a look at our portraits.
In the end we bought the photos.
I am so happy! The portrait is just magnificent!
Thank you, Mr. Mike Figgis!
:D:D
new printer
On the same deliver from Argos, came a printer. Today it's like Xmas to me! :D:D:D:D:D
A brand new, cheap HP printer. Yes I tend to buy only cheap stuff.
I didn't buy the cheapest BUT I didn't go for the expensive ones. Considering *everyone* now has a digital camera and wants to print the pics at home, the quality of the printers has improved a lot in the last few years.
I needed a printer that could do borderless printing and 6 colours.
And it prints black and white beautifully!
it's time to start spending a fortune in photo paper and ink...
:D
yeah!!!
:D
if anyone is interested in knowing, it's a Hp Photomart D5160

meeting friends in central london
Today I met Pat, Zé and Inês at the Photographer's Gallery to see an exhibition by Mike Figgis.
I enjoyed the show a lot. In a couple of days and today, Mike Figgis took plenty of photos in the surrounding area of the gallery. He then edited them, printed and displayed the photos in the gallery.
Some photos were portraits taken there in the gallery. And me and Zé (great photographer as well) decided to ask Mr. Figgis for a photo taken of us. I was photographed by the man himself!!!! By a twice Oscar nominated film director!!!! I was thrilled!!!!
I must say that I LOVED being in front of such a beautiful digital Hasselblad with all that studio gear. He took only 2 photos of each one of us. After that, Zé asked if he could buy the portrait and the answer came positive. I didn't by mine, Zé wants to buy his.
Vasco and Fátima joined us later on and we all went to an irish pub to eat and drink something.
I had lots of fun today!
Thanks guys!
More pics are to come as they all had cameras with them!

GOOD GRIEF!!!!
One of the reasons I like to shop at IKEA is that the furniture is really easy to assemble and the instructions are so clear and easy to understand that you don't even need to read anything.
I needed a desk. a cheap cheap desk.
I could've bought one in IKEA but the delivery would've been to expensive.
So I went to Argos and bought a "malibu desk"...
It just arrived. the delivery guy wouldn't bring it to the first floor so I had to unpack everything downstairs and bring the shelves and stuff by my self.
Once at home, I looked at the "instruction manual"...
It is HORRENDOUS!
I feel like I need to go back to Uni, to the technical drawing class!!
Jeezz!!!
Why can't they do something simple like IKEA does????
Once the desk is done and the scanner is on top of it rather than still in a bag (since I moved in), I'll scan the damn thing and put it here.
The cheap, cheap, cheap 27 quid desk is this one:

I'm loosing my faith on Marilyn Manson
I bought a few CDs this week.
One of them was Eat me Drink me by Marilyn Manson.
What a load of crap!
I always liked Marilyn Manson. I have all his cds, I even have stuff from the days when no-one knew who he was. I always thought that a Marilyn Manson CD was a good buy. Even without listening to it first.
Until today.
The CD is so bad that I will probably sell it on ebay before no-one wants it. Or give it to charity.
Everything in it is bad. The music, the lyrics, the theme... The theme is so EMO!!!! and the last two songs are techno-remixes of the worse song in the album!!!
Not even emos will like it.
And it wasn't cheap!!
I'm very annoyed!
