english summer weather

This is a set of photos taken last June in Hide Park.
I had been to the Royal Albert Hall to see the Swan Lake (already posted on Pastilha Elástica) and afterwards I went for a walk on that end of the Hide Park.
The Royal College of Art had their Summer Show there.
By the big tent, outside in the rain, there was an artist guarding his installation. One of the best installations I've ever seen.
He had hung headphones on a big tree and because it's not very often that people see trees with headphones, the first thing they did, and I did as well, was to approach and listen.
And we would listen to what the tree listens to. The rain drops. It was beautiful.
I am very, very sorry that I lost the artist's card, I don't know his name.
If anyone knows, please let me know. I would like to show him these photos.

what happens when one buys a 500gb external drive

Ever since I started to scan pictures and then bought my first digital camera that my computers turned into landfills. I say landfills because 80% of what I keep is rubbish.
Sometimes a photo-shoot is successful and all the pics are worth to keep but other times it's just crap.
Like when I go to concerts and stay in the last row but even so try to take some decent photos... I'm just fooling myself, really.
For a couple of months now, that my beloved MacBookPro kept complaining that was short of storage space and because everytime I load photos into the computer, I put another 2 gb of junk in the hard drive, I decided to buy a 500gb disk.
Two days ago I copied all the 160gb to the new thing and today I'm browsing the mac and deleting the so called junk.
While browsing, I sometimes find photos that I had completely forgotten about them.
Like the set I shot the last time I went to the building where I grew up and lived my whole life.
One year or so after I turned myself into an emigrant, my parents sold that flat, and the place that I thought to be the safest in the whole world, stopped being my home sweet home.
Just before the new owners moved in I went there to take my memories, smell the place for the last time, and take some photos, of course.
Somethings you never forget but it's always better to take pictures. Even if you forget about them.
And today I found these photos of the building's lobby.
I pressed those elevator buttons millions of times. I remember of when I couldn't reach them because they where to high (or I was to short).
It's not a pretty lobby at all, it's and old thing from the 60's with marble floors and old mailboxes. But it was my home.
The pics are here.
I guess this is what happens when one buys a 500gb disk.
One finds lost memories.

this week

This week I did lots of things.
On tuesday, I went with Dave to Barfly to shoot two bands. Chthonic are a taiwanese blackmetal band and 3iob, Heavymetal from Canada.
I've already posted pictures of both gigs here (previous posts) and they were AMAZING!
I had so much fun! I always have fun when I'm taking photos BUT to shoot live concerts with GOOD music is a great pleasure! Oh, and I like it when the bands are playing in small venues. It's much more personal, I can be very close and try to really capture their moods.
Yesterday I went to see Arcade Fire, in a brilliant performance held at Alexandra Palace here in London. I was fortunate enough not to have my bag searched and my camera confiscated (it wouldn't be the first or the second time) and I did some photos but because I was in the middle of a huge dancing and jumping crowd, I don't have a decent set to show.

I'm finally updating my Myspace page, I still have no idea of how to change the layout but it's on my "to do list". a little help is appreciated.

Today I went with Pat to the ICS to see Blame it on Fidel, a remarkable movie about a french family in 1971. I reviewed many aspects of my childhood on that movie and I totally recommend it.
